A Threshold for Right Relationship

MORE of What U Like is a reader-supported publication rooted in Africultural values of presence, responsibility, and clarity. This space is hosted on Substack, a platform that offers three types of access: public (open to anyone), free subscription (requires an email), and paid subscription (offering deeper levels of engagement and study).

In Africultural tradition, one does not enter a space without acknowledgment. This is to align intention with impact for people who are mercilessly extracted from under capitalism around the globe. Presence must be mutual. Subscribing with your email is a simple act that signals readiness to receive with care. It shows that you are not just passing through, but willing to arrive. That is the beginning of right relationship.

Therefore, we are veering away from public consumption and asking folks who choose to "Enter the path of practice" to make the minimal commitment of being a FREE Subscriber. Those who wish to access deeper lessons and more personal reflections may become PAID Subscribers.

We are not entering a transaction. You may choose to be in relationship, or not. Subscribing-whether free or paid-acknowledges the labor and cultural care that goes into this space. It reflects your decision to move with intention, not as a passive consumer. Subscribe below to continue.

✴ Cultural Attribution Protocol for Living Practices ✴

Regarding: all Mindful Soul Practices authored by Wil Oliver (Transcending)

  1. Authorship
All practices titled and originated under the banner of Mindful Soul Practice are the intellectual, spiritual, and cultural property of Wil Transcending. This includes Laughing Joy Into Life, a practice developed through lived experience, ancestral listening, and sacred relational discernment.

  2. Relational Use Only
These practices are shared in trusted containers. Any use outside of those relational spaces requires direct permission from Wil Transcending. This includes quoting, referencing, teaching, adapting, or naming the practice in public or private settings.

  3. No Extraction Through Proximity
Hearing about a practice from someone who once heard it does not constitute permission to share it. Attribution is not a formality, it is a practice of cultural integrity and relational fidelity. The work does not circulate ethically without that.

  4. Formal Naming Requirement
Whenever a Mindful Soul Practice is referenced or engaged with in writing, teaching, or conversation, the following citation must appear clearly:

Laughing Joy Into Life, a practice created by Wil Transcending as part of the Mindful Soul Practice body of work. Shared with permission or within a space held by the originator.

  1. Violation Response
Misuse, misnaming, or decontextualization of this work causes cultural harm. Should it occur, a public correction and reorientation may be requested. Cultural clarification is not conflict; it is stewardship.

WHAT’S INSIDE?

✍🏾 Mindful Soul Writings

  • Prose that lives where practice meets the page. This tag collects reflections, essays, and poems that arise as a body of work from Wil's lived experience. It includes teachings, field notes, and transmissions across mindfulness, Black identity, and Sankofa theory.

  • Relation to others: Functions as a general tag to archive textual work across the Sankofa 7 and relational themes.

  • Expect to find: Full-length pieces, poetic meditations, and the kind of fierce writing that refuses polish when presence is more true.

  • Example: A paragraph that sounds like a sermon. A sentence that carries the sting of memory. A closing line that makes you whisper "yes."
